How to whiten our teeth? Part 1
What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening or teeth beaching is one of the most popular, easiest and extremely efficient ways to improve the natural color go the teeth, without preparing teeth surfaces.
What is whitening in the dental office?
Teeth bleaching in the dental office is done by a dentist and high concentration of the bleaching gel is used. This method is suitable for patients, which require optimal results in the shortest time possible, thus the effect is visible within the fist hour.
How long will the bleaching results last?
After whitening the teeth color remains stable for approximately 6 month to year, sometimes even more. The effect is strongly connected with your daily basis – smoking, coffee drinking, red wine, consumption of staining food and drinks. For maintaining the results, we in "Davidiva Dental”advise whitening once or twice per year.
How log after teeth whitening I musn't smoke or drink coffee, tea, red wine, dark coloured fruits, juices and sauses?
Smoking and consumption of these food and drinks should be avoided during the procedure, as well as at least one week, after finishing it.
Will the obturations, veneers, crowns, bridges that I have be beached too?
All beaching agents, used for teeth whitening, influence only the natural tooth. That means that the obturations, veneers, crowns and bridges won’t change their color.
What are the side effects of teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is considered as a safe procedure, as log as the protocol is kept. However, there are some risks, relevant to it, which you should be aware with:
- Intensifying teeth sensitivity – it is noticed while the procedure and for 24-48 after the bleaching. There are no reasons to worry, thus this normal and expected side effect. For reducing this sensitivity, we in Davidova dental lay on special remineralizating gels and advise the patients to use suitable tooth paste
- Irritation of the soft tissues – it might be caused if the gel is contacting with the gum and the soft tissues. Usually, the strongest irritation is in the dental surgery, because of the high concentration of the gel. The irritation occures most often right after the contact between the substance and the tissues “become pale”. Soon after the bleaching agent is carefully removed from the affected areas, the normal color of the gums and soft tissues is returned .
- Unsatisfactory results – the results from the whitening depends on the initial teeth color and in the cases when the teeth are grey or with large stains, it is possible that no difference could be noticed after the procedure.
